1,800 New Jobs, Investment Estimated as $350 Million in The Shoals
Governor Bob Riley announced Wednesday, July 18 that National Alabama Corporation will build a new manufacturing facility in The Shoals that is expected to employ 1,800 workers. The investment is estimated at $350 Million. National Alabama Corporation is a newly formed subsidiary of National Industries Inc., the parent company of National Steel Car Limited of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. 2,010 Acre Certified Mega Site
The property, known as the Limestone County, Alabama I-65 Megasite, was certified by McCallum Sweeney Consulting (MSC) of Greenville, S.C., an independent firm commissioned by TVA to review proposed megasites throughout the Tennessee Valley. This industrial site is the first property certified as a megasite in Alabama and is located on Interstate 65 at mile marker 346 near Athens in North Alabama. Read more about this mega site
ADO Named Top State Economic Development Agency
Site Selection magazine today named ADO as the winner of the 2006 Competitiveness Award. This award recognizes the state-level economic development group scoring the most points in a 10-category index of new plant activity as tracked by the magazine’s new plant data base. Read more about ADO.
New Automotive Supplier Moves to North Alabama
Cardington Yutaka Technologies, Inc. of Ohio (CYT) announced plans today to build a 168,000 square foot automotive parts supply plant on a 75-acre tract in Cullman Alabama. The new company will be known as Alabama Cullman Yutaka Technologies, LLC (ACYT). This facility will manufacture torque converters and exhaust system parts for Honda of Alabama. Construction at the site on the east side of Cullman began in early January 2007. CYT will be investing over $50 million and eventually hiring approximately 200 associates.

200,000+ Sq. Ft. Spec Building Leased at Huntsville Airport
Graham & Company announced the availability of its new 208,000-square-foot speculative distribution center in Jetplex Industrial Park located at Huntsville International Airport in February, 2007. This building is now under lease to International Diesel. Plans for another building are under way.
100 New Jobs Coming to Boaz
Pinnacle Manufacturing announced they will occupy the former Homes of Legend building in Boaz and employ 100-125 workers. Pinnacle will manufacture portable storage tanks for the oil and natural gas industry. Pinnacle has been a leader in this market and is answering the need for a location on the eastern seaboard.

International Truck and Engine Expanding at Huntsville Airport
International Truck and Engine will build its new, modern Class 8 "big-bore" diesel engine in Huntsville, Alabama. A new assembly plant will be built near the company's existing facility at the Huntsville International Airport. The new plant will employ more than 175 people.

Distribution Center Will Bring 250 Jobs to Fort Payne
The Children's Place Retail Stores, Inc. (Nasdaq: PLCE) announced that representatives from the Company attended a ground breaking ceremony today for its new 700,000 square foot automated distribution center in Fort Payne, Alabama.

300 Aerospace Jobs Coming to Albertville
Aerospace Integration Corporation (AIC) announced on September 25th that it had selected the Albertville Municipal Airport to establish a 100,000 square-foot Aircraft Completion Center (ACC). The new $12 million facility will be used to assemble and “missionize” new helicopters to be used by the U.S. Army and other military services, as well as those to be delivered to civil aviation customers.

Verizon Wireless Chooses Huntsville for 1,300 New Jobs
On September 21st Governor Bob Riley announced that Verizon Wireless will build a new, high-tech state headquarters facility in Huntsville, bringing up to 1,300 jobs and an investment of over $44 million to the area. “This is outstanding news for Huntsville and the state of Alabama,” said Gov. Riley. “Today’s announcement is proof that a strong business climate—good schools, a solid community and a highly-skilled workforce – make a difference to growing businesses like Verizon Wireless looking to expand.”
